Dolphin Families -
Thanks to everyone who participated in
the Swim-A-Thon letter campaign these past two days! We had
nearly 50 families prepare donation letters that covered the local
area, as well as some that are headed to far away destinations such
as Hakala, HI, Albany, NY, and even London, England! We also
received several donations directly from team families that have
started us on the right track to meeting our financial goal of
raising $8,000 over the course of this important team fundraising
event. Great job!!
We've had several people ask if they
can still get a letter packet and/or make a donation. The
answer is absolutely YES!! We'll have the letters and
envelopes available on deck in the team file box beginning
Monday. We'll also have a separate donation form for families
who would prefer to simply make a direct donation to the
team. All completed materials/donations can be returned
to the same file box for processing by the Swim-A-Thon
Committee. We'll do our best to have everything well marked
and easy to understand. If you plan to send letters, please
get them out to your potential donors ASAP, as we'd like them to
arrive before the actual event date. Family contributions can
be made anytime and will be accepted the day of the Swim-A-Thon, as
well.
Phase two of the Swim-A-Thon will take
place on Tuesday, June 22 during regularly scheduled practice
times. Our team goal is to swim 8,000 laps this season, plus
each of the next two, putting us in London, England just in time
for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games! Please know there is a
conversion rate in place, otherwise we'd probably only be as far as
Elko, NV at the end of three years!! The coaches will be
talking with the kids next week about their individual and age
group goals for the event. We'll be keeping track of
everyone's laps on the day of the Swim-A-Thon and add them together
after each practice to let the kids know how we're progressing as a
team toward our goal of 8,000 total laps. Each age group will
be treated to an on-deck pancake breakfast after their practice
session on Swim-A-Thon day. We'll have more details for you
next week . . .
Again, thanks to the many Dolphin
families who participated in our letter campaign or made a donation
to the Swim-A-Thon. As a parent volunteer run organization,
it is important that we build a strong, participatory community of
families that work together to support the swimmers and the team as
a whole - it looks like we're off to a great start!
